A Secret Garden in Oxfordshire
CONCEPT: A hidden secret corner which you cannot see from elsewhere in the garden. Approached through tunnels leading from the garden connecting up to the newly created woodland paths. The tunnels are made from living willow, wider at the opening but narrowing down until the opening up into the secret garden, an oval-shaped woodland clearing. Planting gives an unexpected magical feel as you are surprised to find colour here....colourful woodland planting to give a sense of place but in large swathes to give impact.
Furniture should be wooden to fit with the surroundings but could be child, family or adult focused, from wooden rustic tables and stools to swing chairs. The theme of willow can be continued into the trees - with willow sculptures in simple organic shapes to larger-than-life human figures or animals. An entrance through to the field behind is created with either a large stile or gate, set on its own with two large posts but no fence.
