Merchant House
Merchant House is a splendid Grade-II listed house and has been refurbished to a high standard creating a subtly luxurious, country retreat. The private walled garden, with its landscaped terraces, links seamlessly to the house through bi-fold doors, providing two outdoor dining areas, a lawn and a raised terrace with sofa seating for relaxing after a day exploring.
Entering through the gates, a screened utility area with bin, bike store and log store leading through to the BBQ area and outdoor kitchen.
There’s a small terrace directly outside the kitchen, with a bistro café table and chairs, perfect for enjoying breakfast in the morning sun. You’ll also find a larger terrace with outdoor sofa and parasol for soaking up the pretty garden views as well as a separate dining area under a rose covered oak pergola, all surrounded by beautifully planted borders and a sloping bed of lavender.
Designed to be a garden enjoyed all year round for guests renting the house, whether that's finding the perfect spot for a chilled glass of rosé, cooking on the Egg BBQ, roasting marshmallows on our fire-pit or enjoying a game of boules.
Planting is traditional in style with country cottage planting of white Hydrangea ‘Strong Annabelle’ and Lavender ‘Hidcote’ along with climbing Roses, Paeonies and Foxgloves.
